apple trees

Question
i just purchased a new home that has 2 apple trees on the property. Previous owner said trees are 4 years old and have never bared fruit. purchased property in September and leaves looked sickly, black spots on leaves. why won't they bare fruit, what's the problem? all help would be greatly appreciated.

Answer
There is not a real good way to explain the management of apple trees in a short answer. I suggest you contact your local Agriculture Extension Service office and ask them for information on raising apples. They should be listed in the phone book under State OR Federal Agriculture agencies. I suspect the main problem will be fertilizer and pest control. Sounds like the trees have been just left alone and need some TLC. The Extension office should be able to give worlds of information and help.
