Redwood Burl

Question
When my husband and I were vacationing, we visited the Redwood Forest.  In one of their gift shops, we bought a Redwood burl.  Lots of little shoots sprung up.  Eventually, we planted the burl to see what would happen.  At this time, one little green growth is holding its own.  How should we take care of it to help it grow?  We live in an apartment in South Florida and our weather is kinda warm.  Is there anything we can do or are these things just things tourists gifts.

Answer
It more than likely will grow at least survive in Fl. But do not expect it to reach the size of the trees in Calif. I would plant it in a large pot in good potting soil until it establishes a root system. This may take several years--when the plant out grows the pot transplant it to the yard. It probabally will not do too well inside so I would keep it out side in the shade.
